In his request, the owner of the business, Mr. Arebbetou, said external lights and a new CCTV system would be installed to deter any potential issues of anti-social behavior and that all staff would be trained.

Despite this, concerns have been expressed that opening a bar from a building that only has permission for a more traditional restaurant could cause problems for people living nearby.

David Kitchen, who rents the apartment above the proposed bar, said the business will lead to increased noise and clutter issues compared to the building’s initially approved use as a cafe or restaurant.

” The entrance to the residential part of the building is adjacent to the [bar’s] entry and that will mean residents will have to walk through drunk customers standing outside and smoking, ”he said.
