Does the popular bar offer brunches as well as cocktails?
The Siddharta Lounge has long established itself as a chic cocktail bar and a brilliant open-air venue. But for many years, it seems its owners have been reluctant to open up to the Dubai brunch crowd. Until recently, that is.
Its three-hour brunch launched in October is the perfect opportunity for customers to experience the Siddharta Lounge at a capped price (as paying a la carte can get a bit expensive). And, with the non-alcoholic drinks package priced at 350 Dhs, wine and beer at 450 Dhs and 550 Dhs for premium drinks, it’s a brunch at an average price.
Tables are set next to the pool and outdoor bar, and the overall setting is chic, but the music is so loud that we find it hard to chat at the table.
Fortunately, our mouths are occupied by an excellent antipasti platter, topped with cold cuts and bread, a deliciously creamy burrata, cherry tomatoes, an endive salad and a tuna tataki. Dry ice oysters are served with aplomb, but in addition to the platter, they are not quite necessary.
The main courses are also a big tick, with something for everyone, from tender Wagyu rib and more gourmet pappardelle pasta, spicy chili chicken and branzino fillet. A generous serving of ice cream, cheesecake, golden churros, espresso panna cotta, and seasonal fruit leaves us in good shape, but so satisfied.
The entertainment is hit and miss, with the addition of dancers dressed in sequins and feathers, unfortunately from excess cheese. The percussionist and violinist put on a mind-blowing spectacle, however, and soon brunch-goers got up to dance the afternoon.
