Man loses several teeth in scuffle in EC bar

September 25 – EAU CLAIRE – A man lost several teeth in a fight outside a Eau Claire tavern, police said.

Darrius D. Johnson, 23, of Independence, and Derrick T. Williams, 25, 301 Twin Oak Drive, Altoona, were each charged by Eau Claire County Court with one count of beating and serious injuries and one count of disorderly conduct.

Johnson also faces one count of jumping on bail and the misdemeanor of battery and resistance to an officer.

Williams also faces one count of misdemeanor obstructing an officer.

Leah M. Pederson, 28, 640 W. Grand Ave., faces counts of assault and battery and disorderly conduct in connection with the incident.

Johnson and Williams are free on signing bonds of $ 3,000 and $ 2,000, respectively. The two men are prohibited from having contact with the victims. Johnson also can’t drink alcohol or go into taverns. Williams may not commit any act or threat of violence against anyone.

Johnson returns to court on October 5 for a preliminary hearing. Williams returns to court on November 3.

Pederson is scheduled to appear in court for the first time on October 26.

According to the criminal complaint:

Eau Claire police were called to the Scooters Bar at 2:06 a.m. Wednesday on a report of multiple fights and a man lying on the ground.

A woman said she, a friend and a man were at a nearby bar when the friend drove them to Galloway Street so they could retrieve the man’s vehicle.

When they got to the parking lot, Johnson walked over to the three of them. Johnson is the friend’s ex-boyfriend.

A fight ensued between the three people in the car and the three co-accused.

The man was eventually attacked by Johnson, Williams and Pederson. The man was out of breath and there was blood on the sidewalk under him. He had multiple cuts and abrasions on his face, forehead and right elbow. Her mouth was bleeding and she was missing several teeth at the top of her mouth.

Police examined video footage from nearby cameras. Williams and Johnson can clearly be seen hitting and kicking the man in the head. Pederson can also be seen starting a brawl.

Police apprehended the three co-defendants at the scene.

Johnson and Williams are being sued as repeat offenders. Johnson was convicted of one count of jumping on bail in May 2020 in Eau Claire County. Williams was convicted of one count of jumping on bail in May 2019 in Eau Claire County.
