MariPili is Seattle’s newest Galician spot and will open next month


In February, Seattle lost a true citywide favorite, Cafe Presse. Although very sad, new life is breathed into the space in the form of a tapas bar. In May you can host, MariPili, an authentic Galician-style bar and restaurant.

MariPili is a new venture from Grayson Pilar Corrales, the former pastry chef of JuneBaby. According to an interview with Capitol Hill Blog Seattle, She walked away from her post during the turmoil of the Eduardo Jordan allegations. She then took the opportunity to do an “internship in a two-star Michelin restaurant called Culler de Pau in Galicia”. It taught him about Galician cuisine and also about his grandmother’s heritage.

The new restaurant will have elements of the late Café Presse in its layout. But diners can expect to see a new paint job with white and blue as the primary colors, new flooring and ceiling, and an abundance of natural wood. Corrales’ goal was to make the space look as Galician as possible, with a modern twist.
