Hartunian added that he also hopes the new distillery will cater to Napa residents as well as tourists. The bar will offer indoor and outdoor seating and large-screen TVs for sports games, he said.
“We’re not just going to try to cater to Napa Valley patrons and visitors, we want this to be the corner bar in your neighborhood as well,” Hartunian said. “… People can sit on the sidewalk and enjoy the good weather and have a cocktail or two.
The Napa Valley Distillery opened in the Oxbow Public Market, a location that still offers tastings and sales of bar ingredients. (Due to alcoholic beverage control requirements, the Oxbow location can only serve spirits and fruit-based spirits to customers, according to Hartunian.)
The Main Distillery, located at 2485 Stockton Street, opened in 2016 and offers tours, a full cocktail bar, commercial kitchen and event space.
Hartunian said the Arbaretum will provide an experience that is sort of a mix of the other two locations.
“We are not going to operate the new distillery the same way we operate our main site, where we produce a significant amount of spirits and a different variety of spirits as well,” Hartunian said. “It will be a showcase distillery where we can educate our guests on the art of distillation, the science of distillation and enjoy spirits as they were designed to be enjoyed, along with a full cocktail bar.”
