GLOUCESTER, MASS. (WHDH) – Two teenagers face vandalism charges after allegedly shooting more than 40 cars with BB guns in Gloucester and Rockport early Tuesday morning, police said.
Officers who responded to reports of shots fired at a Main Street bar at 1:40 a.m. found a window smashed by a BB, police said. At 2:30 a.m., officers responded to Bass Avenue with reports that someone in a dark-colored SUV fired a BB gun at a car and stopped a car matching that description that attempted to ‘escape the police.
Police reportedly found two teenagers in the car with BB guns and open alcohol containers, police said. After searching the area, police reportedly found 33 damaged cars in Gloucester and 13 damaged cars and seven businesses in Rockport, and said suspects shot cans with the BB gun in the O’Maley Innovation parking lot. David Aberegg, 18, of Gloucester, and Mark Madeja, 18, of Rockport, have been charged with malicious destruction of property over $ 1,200, carrying a gun on school grounds, possession of alcohol by minors and having an open alcohol container in a vehicle. Madeja was also charged with careless driving, speeding, failing to stop, failing to stop for police and violating marked lanes.
Both were arraigned Tuesday in Gloucester District Court.
