Ten great DC-area hotels for the perfect Mother’s Day getaway

This year could be the year to shake up your typical Mother’s Day gift rotation (flowers, wine, jewelry) with something virtually all moms want: a little peace and quiet, and someone to help. another to make the bed. You can give a Washington-area mother the gift of a staycation this weekend; here are ten hotels she might like.

Places to be pampered

The Ritz Carlton at Tysons

1700 Tysons Blvd, McLean

This luxury hotel has a bit of everything, but for a whopping price of almost $400 a room this weekend. The hotel has a wine bar and one of our favorite DC spas where, in addition to a manicure or a massage, mums can relax in an indoor swimming pool (unfortunately, it seems that this Sunday will be rather chilly for outdoor swimming). Its proximity to Tysons Galleria and Tysons Corner Center Mall means mom can do a little shopping, too.

Lansdowne Resort and Spa

44050 Woodridge Parkway, Leesburg

About 45 minutes from town, this resort offers a huge spa with steam rooms, dry saunas, and hot tubs. The resort has seven different restaurants to grab a snack or meal, and plenty of nearby wineries to explore.

InterContinental docked801 Wharf Street, Southwest

The spa on the third floor of this luxury hotel offers customizable massages and facials and relaxing views of the river below. Nautical decor in spacious rooms (from $440 a night this weekend) echoes the maritime decor, as do seafood specialties like seared stone bass and semolina-fried catfish. corn at Moon Rabbit, the upscale Vietnamese restaurant inside the hotel.

Hotel Zena

1155 14th St., NW

This art-filled boutique hotel is offering a Mother’s Day deal May 7-8 that includes room, valet parking, rooftop access and brunch for $368 a night. The brunch menu at the hotel’s new American spot, FigLeaf Bar and Lounge, features dishes such as brioche French toast with lemon mascarpone and berry compote and smoked salmon croque-madame with cheese Boursin and bechamel with lemon and rosemary. Also included with brunch: bottomless mimosas.

Eaton DC

1201 K Street NW

The whole family could join Mom for a special Mother’s Day brunch at Michele’s, an upscale Franco-American spot on the ground floor of this hotel a short walk from the White House. Star chef Matt Baker offers a $65 prix-fixe menu that includes entrees like poached eggs with fried oysters, shrimp and crawfish stew and desserts like brown sugar cake with brown sugar crumble in bacon. As a bonus, the hotel offers a special offer for DMV area residents that includes discounts on stays (this weekend, prices start at $280 a night) and a curated selection of records by DC musicians left in your room.

Hamilton Hotel

1001 14th St., NW

This landmark has rooms open this weekend from $210 a night with the DMV Residents deal, which also includes a $15 in-room breakfast credit, perfect for this holiday classic. mothers, breakfast in bed. The building itself dates back to the 1850s, and it’s located within walking distance of Smithsonian monuments and museums, so history buffs, architecture buffs, and art lovers can all find something to enjoy at inside and outside the hotel.

The Alexandrian

480 King Street, Alexandria

Built on the homestead of Alexandria founders, John and Philip Alexander, and filled with elegant, antique decor, this hotel aims to mimic the charm of the surrounding neighborhood. Visitors can stroll the cobbled streets and stop at nearby history-focused attractions such as the Stabler-Leadbeater Apothecary Museumthe Torpedo Factory Art Centerand Gadsby’s Tavern Museum. Plus, if your mom is also a doggy mom, The Alexandrian’s puppy-friendly policy allows guests to bring a four-legged friend for a $25 fee.

American guest house

The 12 rooms at this Kalorama bed and breakfast are decorated with rich fabrics and oriental rugs, giving off a warm colonial atmosphere. The homemade breakfast (prepared by someone other than a young child at home doing their best) includes a wide range of favorites including frittatas, bacon, sausages, pancakes and quiches. Rooms with breakfast included start at $279 a night.

For moms looking for something new

Citizen M Capitol Hill

550 School Street, Southwest

This one’s for the super-modern mom. Using a free app, gadget-loving guests can adjust their room lights and blinds, browse TV channels and control the temperature. All rooms, which start at $216 this weekend, are designed for a good night’s sleep, with blackout blinds, extra-large king-size beds and designated AM and PM shower gels. The downtown location is a 15-minute walk to the mall, and a rooftop bar with indoor and outdoor seating overlooks the Capitol building.

Kimpton Banneker Hotel

1315 16th St., NW

Art lovers will delight in the abstract pieces curated by mostly local artists placed throughout the hotel, which opened downtown just under a year ago. Rooms for this weekend start at $282 a night, and guests can enjoy drinks from the rooftop bar and a French menu from executive chef Laurent Hollaender at the hotel’s Parisian bistro-inspired restaurant, Le Sel.
