Café Madeleine organizes hotteok evenings

The jewel of South End Cafe Madeleine (seriously, take a look at everything pastry chef Hana Quon posts on Instagram, then go eat it) now has occasional ‘hotteok parties’, with Quon featuring the popular hotteok of the Korean street food, a sweet filled pancake. You’ll have to keep an eye on her aforementioned Instagram account for announcements, but the next party is tomorrow, October 6, 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a traditional and green tea hotteok, as well as a hotteok ice cream sandwich ( choose traditional hotteok, green tea, or black sesame with sweet cream ice cream.) Cicada Coffee Bar adds dinner service

Cambridge’s fairly new (and excellent) Vietnamese cafe Cicada Coffee Bar – from the team behind the popular Nem Kitchen pop-up series – now has a beer and wine license, with dinner service to go with it. Currently available Friday through Sunday, “Cicada @ Night” departs from the simple daytime menu of banh mis and noodle bowls, giving diners the opportunity to try dishes like a salmon tartare with passion fruit. of the season ; monkfish with turmeric, dill and vermicelli; oxtail in red wine, potatoes and viet baguette; duck with basil and black sushi rice; and more. (Here is the menu; there are several vegan options available.) On the alcohol side, choose from a few natural wines, by the glass or by the bottle; some local beers and a Vietnamese lager; or a junmai ginjo sake or Cicada’s house infused cucumber sake. Cicada takes dinner reservations through Resy, but walk-in people are also welcome.

50Kitchen appears at Town Hall

Dorchester’s 50Kitchen, which serves a fusion of Southern soul food and Asian cuisines, is buzzing at Boston City Hall. You still have a few days to try breakfast or lunch. Chef Anthony Caldwell offers dishes like Nutella French Toast, Chicken and Waffle Sliders, Honey Fried Cornbread, and more. Find the pop-up on the 8th floor of Town Hall (it is open to the public) between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. until Friday, October 8.

And a beer and wine garden is also appearing at the town hall

Essex Park Pop-Up Beer and Wine Garden, a collaboration between Roxbury’s District 7 Tavern and Leather District’s Savvor Lounge, runs on the Congress Street side of Boston’s City Hall Plaza until October 15 (4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in week). With a capacity of 300 and covered space, the Rain or Sun Event has live entertainment on select nights, and local food trucks are on hand for dining options.

Jason Bond from Bondir joins the Clover team

Chef Jason Bond closed his Cambridge restaurant Bondir over the summer; the upscale farm-to-table restaurant had been open in the intimate Broadway space for a decade, and Bond noted his intention to find a larger space after “a long summer break.” (Judy’s Bay, a New England izakaya, will soon be opening at the Broadway address.) No word at this time on any future plans for a new Leapir, but for now Bond remains busy with join the fast and casual vegetarian chain Clover Food Lab as Executive Chef. His role in the business will include cooking classes, pop-ups, etc.
