Barranco just launched its brunch service on September 17th, and as a brunch lover that I am, I was there two days later to try it out. Between the bottomless mimosa option at $ 30, the good vibes and the Montreal-meets-Peru concept, anyone looking for something unique and delicious should add this place to their weekend brunch list.

The real Barranco is a neighborhood in the heart of Lima, the capital of Peru, which Barranco MTL owner Fidel M. Vasquez has described as “romantic and urban, very artistic”. But Montreal’s Barranco is in the heart of the Plateau, rue Saint-Denis, across from Clébard.

We were struck by the cool vibe that effortlessly blends two different worlds: Montreal and Peru.

On one wall, you will find a mural that transports you directly to the streets of peru with palm trees and colorful houses. On the other wall, you’ll find mixed collage-style artwork that is common on the streets of Montreal.

Barranco art was made by local street artists TEETZ, lna and KA ₩ AZ.

The menu is the result of a collaboration between Arnaud Glay from Passé Composé and chefs Daniel Silva and Michelangelo Miceli from Barranco. Like the decor, puts a Montreal touch on Peruvian favorites. My friend had a Peruvian version of a lox and cream cheese bagel: a St-Viateur bagel with trout gravlax, cilantro sauce, red onions, radish, jalapeño yogurt, cilantro sprouts, corn salsa and jalapeño . He loved her.

I had the Ceviche de Hongos, a mixture of mushrooms, sour marinade, chives, red onion, corn, crunchy corn, quinoa and coriander seeds. It was a perfect excuse to eat ceviche for breakfast – something I haven’t done since visiting Peru several years ago and it brought back delicious memories of seafood fresh, lemony.

I opted for a homemade passion fruit juice (maracuya) instead of the bottomless $ 30 mimosas that day. My juice was deliciously refreshing and beautiful to watch. That said, the bottomless mimosas are a fun option and it seemed like the party atmosphere started to pick up when we left, as a DJ spun happy beats and old-fashioned retro music.

If you are looking for a tasty new brunch spot that will make you feel like you have one foot in Canada and the other in South America, I highly recommend you visit Barranco, either for brunch or for dinner. The restaurant is open for brunch on weekends from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and for dinner Monday to Sunday from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m.
